In today’s era, laboratory tests have become an indispensible tool in modern health care system. These helps in the management of a sick individual in offering a prompt diagnosis for treatment and for follow up and also helping in disease prevention. Thus maintaining overall wellbeing and happiness by including lifestyle related and risk indicator testing as well.

To fulfil this increasing needs the management of SMDA has expanded the hospital Laboratory in 2011-12 to a fully automated Laboratory with all State of the Art equipments and modern infrastructure as per National standards. Marwari Hospitals dept. of pathology is a NABL accredited pathological laboratory. The laboratory has a dedicated team of Laboratory Doctors and experienced Technicians who has been able to attain the desired level of satisfaction for the treating clinicians and patients coming to the Laboratory.

Department of Surgery of Marwari Hospital & Research Centre made its beginning way back in 2002, along with other departments of the hospital. Dr. Subhakar Agarwalla, M.S. may be termed as the founder surgeon, as he organized it and started doing surgery both major and minor procedures. Another surgeon, Dr. Biswal was there also for sometime at the beginning and contributed a lot. As around that time, Marwari Maternity Hospital was undergoing revamping all services were shifted temporarily to this hospital and MHRC OT complex was started with 2 major theatres – one for surgery and other for Obstetrics & Gynaecology, besides a minor theatre for minor / OPD cases and one Septic OT for infective & burn cases.

Initially, anesthetists, Late Dr. K.K. Goswami & Dr. S.K. Gogoi, manned the Anesthesia Department / Unit and they were joined by Dr. Manoj Kumar Talukdar after about 6 months.

Initial turnover of Surgery annually was a modest 300 to 400, as recollected by Dr. Subhakar Agarwalla. From that modest beginning just more than a decade back, annual turnover of major surgeries escalated now to more than 1100 besides proportionate number of minor surgical cases.

Following overall revamping about 2 yrs back, this modest O. T. complex has been transformed into a very modern one with 3 major theatres (one with Laminar air flow technic) for Orthopedicc surgery and 2 for General & Urological Surgery) besides a minor, a septic theatre and immediate post operative recovery room. It also houses separate doctors and nurses’ room, technician / OT boys’ room, patient’s waiting room just before taking into the theatre, a patient examination room by doctor, one store, one autoclav, sterilization room and a reception counter to receive the patients from ward / OPD for procedure.

Physiotherapy  department/Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department(PMRD) is a dynamic profession which uses a range of treatment techniques to restore movement and function within the body and at the same time reduces pain and prevent recurrence.

Marwari Hospital and Research Centre has a well equiped physiotherapy department with the latest computerised equipments working on all sub specialities in physiotherapy.we provide OPD(Direct and Referral) and IPD services(in wards and intensive care unit)with treatment procedures of high standards to offer a multi-facet approach to a patient’s rehabilitation.

The Paediatric department is located at 3rd floor in Marwari Hospital & Research Centre. It consists of 4 beds in NICU and 8 beds in step down (Recovery room). There are 19 beds in the ward including general ward, semi cabin and non AC cabin.

NICU is a level II with one conventional ventilator. 2 CPAP machine (including bubble CPAP) multichannel monitor with all beds of NICU, oxygen concentrator, central lined oxygen pipeline latest LES phototherapy unit. We also have the facilities of 24 hours laboratory services, portable X-ray, ultra sonography and NICU residents.

Department of Radiodiagnosis is the branch of medicine field, that provides solution to many diagnosis dilemma, and guides the treating team of physicians/ surgeons to make a fair planning of the treatment modalities. It also helps in evaluation of recovery phase, if it is going in the expected course or needs further modification of curative/ palliative regimen.

The neonatal department is located in the 3rd floor of Marwari Maternity Hospital. It is equipped with warmers and phototherapy equipments. After the delivery the new born babies are taken care at the Ist floor where O.T is situated which is also equipped with sophisticated equipments of baby care.This department of Neonatology exists since the inception of the hospital from October 1985. The average delivery rate is from 12-15 per day with excellent neonatal outcome, very low IMR compared to national IMR and very low Neonatal infection rate. Also we are providing free concessional treatment to the poor people from delivery to discharge.

The department is fully equipped with sophisticated medical equipments with level II care also. For emergency management we also have NICU & Step down facility at our sister concern unit Marwari Hospital & Research Centre situated adjacent to our unit.

Department of Anaesthesiology is working for the betterment of the hospital with the best possible services provided to the patients relentlesly without any break since inception of this hospital. Presently this department is run by Dr. S.K Gogoi, Sr Consultant along with Dr. Dipankar Talukdar, Dr. B. Baruah and Dr. A Das.

All the Anaesthesiologists are highly experienced and thoroughly skilled in tackling any medical eventualities and emergencies. That is why in our institution the Mortality Rate for last 30 years for patient is not recognizable.

The department is run by well experienced doctors in this field and patients are provided consultation on any problems relating to Gyanecology. The IPD is however provided in its sister concern Mother and Child Block situated within the same compound which is a 70 bedded hospital dedicated to the service of women.

The Department of Medicine is the backbone of Marwari Hospital and Research Centre as it provide high quality and patient centered care. The Department is managed by an excellent and competent group of Senior Consultants, Resident Doctors and Medical Officer. They are capable of diagnosing and treating complicated medical problem. As per data recorded, in a year approx. 6,000 to 7,000 patients are served in our hospital from this Department.

Medicine department in co-ordination with Intensivists manages critical care patient in ICU and HDU. Both ICU and HDU are equipped with ventilators, cardiac monitors and defibrillators.

The Department was started in the hospital about 8 years back with Outpateint services and expansion was done 3 years back.A separate dedicated Orthopedic operation theater was started with Laminar air flow and positive pressure ventilation along with seamless walls and flooring which provides clean environment for Joint replacements and other Orthopedic surgery .

Our department is equipped with most advance Orthopedic surgery instruments including Arthroscopy, Image intensifier(C-Arm), Cordless battery operated drill etc.

We are fully equipped to do all the major orthopedic surgery and the surgeon team is backed by a dedicated team of Anesthesia and critical care and I.C.U .

We have a modern Physiotherapy united managed by qualified Physiotherapist which takes care of the rehabilitation. Our centre is a tertiary care referral centre for Orthopaedics for the entire north east region.

The Department of Anaesthesiology is functioning in Marwari Hospital & Research Centre since its birth, i.e- March 2002.  In the very beginning, the department was headed by Dr. M.K.Talukdar Jr. Consultant and 2 Senior Consultants Late Dr. K.K.Goswami and Dr. S.C.Gogoi, Anaesthesiologists. Now a team of well trained, skilled, efficient, experienced and hard working Anaesthesiologists are working day night with dedication.

At present, we have 5 Anaesthesia machines with ventilators and all modern facilities and all are attached with sophisticated high tech monitoring system.

We have a very good recovery unit inside the OT complex with all monitoring and supporting systems.

The department is run by a very good, skilled, experienced and well trained support team.

The department of Dermatology was established in 2003. It was run by Dr. Arun Agarwalla, MBBS, MD since 2003 till date.
At the initially stage, the department was started as Out Patient Department (OPD), but afterwards many dermatological and dermato cosmetic is being performed on OPD baises.

Blood Bank of Marwari Hospitals has started with Blood Component Separation Unit. It organises voluntary blood donation camps at regular intervals in the hospital premises by different voluntary organization.

Collects & stores blood of different blood groups including some rare groups also. Processing & screening of these collected blood is done to eliminate various blood borne diseases in order to provide safe blood to the recipient. Blood bank provides round the clock service. Apart from meeting the requirements of the hospital,it also provide its services to other hospitals in the city. Thalassemic patients are provided blood with 50% rebate in the screening charge & the voluntary blood donors are provided blood without any exchange of blood on production of appreciation card given by our hospital.

The blood bank is headed by Dr. Satya Narayan Sharma as Director and assisted by Dr.Tarun Bikash Dutta, Medical Officer along with a team of trained technicians.

The ENT & Head and Surgery department at Marwari Hospitals has been dealing with all kinds of diseases related to Ear, Nose, Throat as well as the Head and Neck region. OPD facilities is available on all weekdays, where digital examination is done in all patients. The Emergency Department at Marwari Hospitals is functional 24 hours to deal with all patients including trauma related to Head and neck region. The ENT department has an upgraded OT with modern facilities and equally trained staff to deal with all ENT & Head and neck surgeries. There is a dedicated Audiology and Speech Therapy Department to deal in all kinds of Hearing Test and Hearing Aids.
